Read
the Bible in a year |
Today's Bible reading is
Judges 4- 6
|
If you have ever thought about reading the entire
Bible then here is your chance to take up the challenge. The Bible
is not a single narrative written by one person, as we understand
books today. Think of the Bible as a library. It is a collection
of prophecies, histories, prayers, parables and teaching written
down over many centuries. The writings that were considered the
most sacred and thoses that were mostly used by the Jews and later
the Christians were brought together in what we now know as the
Bible.

Can these bones live? "He asked me, "Son of man, can these bones live?" I said, "O Sovereign LORD, you alone know." Then he said to me, "Prophesy to these bones and say to them, 'Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD! This is what the Sovereign LORD says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the LORD.' " " Ezekiel 37: 3-6. We may think that we have reached the limit of what we can achieve in life. We may feel desolate and barren like dry bones. However, if we put our trust in God we will find that he can change any situation in which we find ourselves. The Lord God is the God of the 'new start', the God of the 'second chance', the 'forgiving God'. If we can humble ourselves and ask him God will rescue us from our situation and help us begin our lives again. | | A new start
Lord God, I have come to a place where I am no longer able to help myself. Allow me to place all my troubles at your feet and rest in the knowledge that you will come to my aid. Amen.

The Lord's
Prayer |
| (traditional form) |
| |
Our Father, |
who art in heaven, |
hallowed be thy
Name; |
thy kingdom come; |
thy will be done; |
on earth as it is in heaven. |
Give us this day our daily bread. |
And forgive us our trespasses, |
as we forgive those who trespass against us. |
And lead us not into temptation; |
but deliver us from evil. |
For thine is the kingdom, |
the power, and the glory, |
for ever and ever, |
Amen |
