Castleton is situated in the Peak National Park. The Methodist Church in Castleton
is on the main road out of the village towards the Blue John Cavern.
The church was built in 1898 at a cost of £2,000 by builder
Albert Wheat. It has has beautiful woodwork and excellent acoustics.The
opening service was held on 23 June 1898 and was conducted by Rev
C.H.Kelly and ex-president of the Methdoist Conference. In the 1930's
the stunning window of the Good Shepherd was donated by Sheffield
cutler J.A. Stead.On the 50th anniversary of the church a font and
cross made of Blue John was presented to the church by John Walker.
Adjoining the church is the Walker Community Room where many church
and community events are held. The Walker Room is available for
